Daily Spread Betting Round-up
A brilliant sporting weekend was capped off on Sunday evening with England’s 3-0 win over Senegal to set up a date with France on Saturday. There was also a full round of action from League 1 and 2 as well as a thumping win for Sunderland over Millwall in the one Championship match.
In the cricket, Bangladesh and India played a cracker of a match in Mirpur and a brave declaration from England left all four results possible heading into the final stages of the fifth day of the Rawalpindi Test.
Finally, a high-quality weekend of racing saw five Grade 1 races across either side of the Irish Sea. With so many top sporting events, we crunch through the data to bring you three big spread winning bets from the last few days.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
BANGLADESH v INDIA – BAN/IND SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT 10)
Away from the thriller in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh faced India in an ODI and it was a sensational game that will live long in the memory of all those in attendance in Mirpur.
India batted first and were strongly favoured on the Ban/Ind supremacy which was set at -55 - -45, a spread that indicated our traders expected India to win by around 50 runs. However, the visitors could only make a total of 186 before being bowled out on a sticky pitch with 8.6 overs remaining in their allotted total.
Bangladesh initially made light work of the chase, but they crumbled from 128/5 to 136/9 and all looked lost for The Tigers. However, a stunning 51-run last wicket partnership between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman saw Bangladesh squeak home to secure a famous victory by one wicket.
With each wicket won by counting as 10 points on the spread, this market settled at 10 meaning buyers at -55 - -45 won 55x their original stake.
HERO WORLD CHALLENGE – VIKTOR HOVLAND WIRE 2 WIRE (SETTLED AT 207.5)
Norwegian superstar Viktor Hovland became only the second man to retain the Hero World Challenge on Sunday when he held off a spirited challenge from world number two Scottie Scheffler in the Bahamas.
Hovland entered the final day with a three-shot lead, but Scheffler soon made up ground and briefly led at one point, but despite the Norwegian putting his second shot on the 18th into the water, he was unable to overhaul the 25-year-old.
It was a good day for those who had got behind Hovland with their hard-earned cash, especially if you backed him on the Wire 2 Wire market. This spread awards points for finishing positions at the end of each round as well as a bonus for winning the event. With Hovland either top or towards the head of the leaderboard throughout, his spread settled at 207.5.
The spread before play on the first day was 27-31 as buyers won 176.5x their stake.
FAIRYHOUSE HATTON’S GRACE HURDLE – TEAHUPOO 50-25-10 (SETTLED AT 50)
The Hatton’s Grace Hurdle was supposed to be all about one horse as popular mare Honeysuckle went to post as the 38-41 favourite in the 50-25-10 spread. However, despite hitting the front just before the second from home, she couldn’t find anything more when headed by Klassical Dream and Teahupoo, with the latter eventually winning by a neck.
Those three were miles ahead of the remaining four horses, but Teahupoo buyers were the ones celebrating with a 50 points maximum against a 6-8 pre-race spread ensuring that they won 42x their stake. With ten points for finishing third, Honeysuckle sellers also turned a decent profit of 28x their stake.
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
