Top 10 Bets of October 2021

We look at the top 10 winning bets from October's sports action, with punters winning big on a variety of sports and events. We break down each of these bets by the market, make-up, initial opening spread, and potential profit. Were you one of our big winners?

10. Champions Day, Ascot

Date: 16/10/21
Market: Jim Crowley Super Mega Jockey Performance (double points for 2nd winner, treble points for 3rd)
Make-up: 155
Initial spread: 29.5-31.5
Potential profit: 123.5 x initial stake

Champions Day should have been all about Oisin Murphy holding off William Buick’s challenge for his champion jockey title, but Jim Crowley was the star of the show.

He piloted 16/1 shot Eshaada to victory in the British Champions Filles & Mares Stakes, 2/1 chance Baaeed in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and 7/2 shot Aldaary in the Balmoral Handicap for a memorable hat-trick.

9. St Helens v Catalans Dragons, Super League Grand Final

Date: 9/10/21
Market: Match Cross-Points (first half points multiplied by second half)
Make-up: 120
Initial spread: 260-288
Potential profit: 140 x initial stake

After these two sides played out a 31-30 thriller at the Magic Weekend, neutrals were hoping the Grand Final would be an open, high scoring affair, but with so much on the line, perhaps the tense, arm wrestle of a game was to be expected.

Saints prevailed 12-10 in the end, and those who saw it coming sold in the Match Cross-Points to make 140 times their bet. For comparison, that Magic Weekend clash had a Match Cross-Points total of 864.

8. Manchester United v Liverpool, Premier League

Date: 25/10/21
Market: Mo Salah Super Mega Minutes (2nd goal minutes doubled, 3rd goal minutes trebled)
Make-up: 278
Initial spread: 50-58
Potential profit: 220 x initial stake

In one of the most memorable games for many a year, Mo Salah became the first visiting player ever to score a Premier League hat-trick at Old Trafford as Liverpool thrashed Man United 5-0.

Salah has scored nine games running so his spread was on the high side, but given he completed his hat-trick before an hour was up and the Reds took their foot off the pedal, things could have been even better for buyers than their 220 times their bet profit.

7. Aston Villa v Wolves, Premier League

Date: 16/10/21
Market: Total Goal Minutes
Make-up: 372
Initial spread: 110-120
Potential profit: 252 x initial stake

With 10 minutes to go in this game, Villa were two goals up and looked to be cruising to the three points and the local bragging rights when the Wolves revival kicked in.

Defenders Romain Saiss and Conor Coady both scored from close range before Ruben Neves’s injury time free-kick took a massive deflection and rolled in to complete a comeback they’ll be talking about for many a year in Wolverhampton.

6. Ryan Searle v Luke Humphries, World Grand Prix

Date: 5/10/21
Market: Checkout Ton or Bust (total of all checkouts over 100)
Make-up: 574
Initial spread: 227-247
Potential profit: 327 x initial stake

While there were bigger names in action, there was no doubting the quality of this last 16 clash as Searle beat Humphries 3-1 to win a place in the last eight.

This market adds together all the checkouts in this match over 100 and Searle had three ton-plus finishes. He checked out on 140 and 152 in back-to-back 12-dart legs before a maximum 170 in the 4th set.

5. Spartak Moscow v Leicester City, Europa League

Date: 20/10/21
Market: Patson Daka Super Mega Minutes (Minutes (2nd goal minutes doubled, 3rd goal minutes trebled)

Make-up: 381
Initial spread: 28-33
Potential profit: 348 x initial stake

Spartak Moscow and Leicester played out a Wednesday afternoon classic that ended 4-3 to the Foxes and made us realise the Europa League isn’t a waste of time after all!

The Russians went 2-0 up but Patson Daka, Leicester’s £22million summer signing from Red Bull Salzburg, scored four times in 23 minutes either side of half-time to turn the match on its head.

4. Watford v Liverpool, Premier League

Date: 16/10/21
Market: Firmino Super Mega Minutes (Minutes (2nd goal minutes doubled, 3rd goal minutes trebled)
Make-up: 411
Initial spread: 28-34
Potential profit: 377 x initial stake

Liverpool put on a five star show at Watford, spoiling Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge of the Hornets by inflicting a 5-0 home defeat on them.

The Reds’ front three of Mane, Salah and Firmino were all among the goals, and while Mane and especially Salah’s goals that will live long in the memory, it was Firmino who scored three poacher’s efforts from a total of about 12 yards! The Brazilian’s 90th minute hat-trick goal was worth 270 to buyers here, who made a total of 377 times their stake!

3. Scotland v Israel, World Cup Qualifier

Date: 10/10/21
Market: Total Goal Minutes x Corners
Make-up: 2321
Initial spread: 1225-1350
Potential profit: 971 x initial stake

If you’re a buyer in the Goal Minutes v Corners market, it doesn’t get much better than a last-minute goal from a corner, but that’s what happened here.

Israel twice took the lead, but first John McGinn, then Lyndon levelled before Scott McTominay capped the comeback with a last gasp winner bundled in from a corner.

2. Bath v Saracens, Gallagher Premiership

Date: 17/10/21
Market: Match Multi-Points (first half total points multiplied by second half total points)

Make-up: 1935
Initial spread: 575-622
Potential profit: 1313 x initial stake

Saracens humiliated Bath at the Recreation Ground, winning 71-17, the most points Bath have ever conceded in a Premiership game.

Sarries ran in 10 tries in all, and were 45-0 up at half-time, Max Malins and Maro Itoje both scoring hat-tricks.

1. Italy v Spain, Nations League Semi-Final

Date: 6/10/21
Market: Multi-Bookings (1st half bookings points x 2nd half bookings points)
Make-up: 1800
Initial spread: 310-390
Potential profit: 1410 x initial stake

Spain became the first team in over three years to beat Italy, and the Italians didn’t take defeat lying down!

Leonardo Bonucci was sent off for two yellow cards in the first half, and was joined in the book by teammate Manuel Locatelli, while Spain had four players booked themselves.
