Following on from our study showing that the number of penalties scored in the Premier League has fallen 7.9% since the introduction of VAR, we thought it'd be a good time to take a look at the league's all-time spot-kick stats. Specifically, which Premier League teams have scored the most penalties, and who are the top spot-kick takers from each of those clubs.1. Liverpool – 124 penalties scoredOnce again topping a list despite never winning a Premier League title – yet – the Reds have scored 124 penalties, with Steven Gerrard bagging just over a quarter of that total.1. Steven Gerrard – 32 scored2. Robbie Fowler – 14 scored3. James Milner – 12 scored4. Michael Owen – 10 scored5. Dirk Kuyt – 8 scored2. Chelsea – 117 scoredThe Blues may have scored 8 penalties fewer than Liverpool, but Frank Lampard at least has his England teammate Gerrard beaten, netting 43 spot-kicks during his time at Chelsea.1. Frank Lampard – 43 scored2. Eden Hazard – 14 scored3. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – 12 scored4. Frank Leboeuf – 10 scored5. Dennis Wise – 5 scored3. Manchester United – 113 scoredOf course United were going to be near the top – it’s maybe even a surprise that they aren’t no. 1. They might have been a bit closer if Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy had matched the consistency of Gerrard and Lampard. 1. Wayne Rooney – 20 scored2. Ruud van Nistelrooy – 17 scored3. Eric Cantona – 14 scored4. Cristiano Ronaldo – 11 scored5. Paul Pogba – 6 scored4. Arsenal – 108 scoredIt feels somewhat fitting that Arsenal – for the longest time a fixture of the top 4 – should find themselves in 4th place on this list with 108 spot-kicks scored. And, unsurprisingly, Thierry Henry sits atop the club's penalty-taking table with 22 goals.1. Thierry Henry – 22 scored2. Ian Wright – 16 scored3. Robin van Persie – 9 scored4. Santi Cazorla – 8 scored5. Mikel Arteta – 7 scored5. Everton – 93 scoredCracking the top 5 in large part thanks to longevity – they are one of 6 sides to play in every season of the Premier League – the Toffees have scored 93 penalties during their time in the top flight.1. Leighton Baines – 19 scored2. David Unsworth – 18 scored3. Mikel Arteta – 10 scored4. Michael Ball – 6 scored5. Wayne Rooney – 3 scored=6. Newcastle – 92 scoredThe Magpies sit joint 6th alongside Tottenham, in no small part thanks to Alan Shearer, whose 35 converted spot-kicks means he has over a 3rd of the club’s Premier League penalties.1. Alan Shearer – 35 scored2. Peter Beardsley – 13 scored3. Nolberto Solano – 6 scored4. Shola Ameobi – 5 scored5. Joey Barton – 4 scored=6. Tottenham – 92 scoredSat at the same 92 penalties as Newcastle, Tottenham’s top spot-kick taker is Harry Kane with 20 spot-kicks.1. Harry Kane - 20 scored2. Teddy Sheringham - 18 scored3. Robbie Keane – 15 scored=4. Darren Anderton – 5 scored=4. Rafael van der Vaart – 5 scored8. Man City – 91 scoredThere are a few notable names in Man City’s Premier League penalty history, including Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure, the latter of whom has an impeccable record.1. Sergio Aguero – 26 scored2. Carlos Tevez – 12 scored3. Yaya Toure – 11 scored4. Nicolas Anelka – 7 scored5. Elano – 6 scored9. West Ham – 75 scoredThe Hammers come in at 9th place, with penalty machine Mark Noble emulating Alan Shearer in an unlikely way by providing more than a 3rd of West Ham’s spot-kicks.1. Mark Noble – 27 scored2. Julian Dicks – 13 scored3. Paolo Di Canio – 11 scored4. Alessandro Diamanti – 4 scored5. Marlon Harewood – 2 scored10. Southampton – 67 scoredThey might be in 10th place in terms of penalties scored, but they perhaps have the most famous spot-kicker taker in Premier League history in Matt Le Tissier.1. Matt Le Tissier – 25 scored2. James Beattie – 10 scored3. Rickie Lambert – 6 scored=4. Dusan Tadic – 4 scored=4. James Ward-Prowse – 4 scoredCheck out the infographic below for more:
