There is a titanic clash to kick-off the online betting action in the Championship this evening and it could be a big weekend for our partner clubs. West Bromwich Albion, Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Millwall all occupy the four spots directly below the play-offs whilst Watford will be looking to cement their position in the top six.
As ever we have ran through the odds and prices for the weekend’s EFL action in today’s betting blog.
Five draws on the spin for our principal partners Sunderland have seen them drop to fourth and they have a tough task on their hands this evening when they travel to Sheffield United.
The Blades are having an impressive season back in the second tier and they would be top of the league were it not for a two-point deduction for missing transfer fee payments.
Chris Wilder’s side are 21/20 favourites this evening with an away win at 14/5 and what would be a sixth draw in a row for the Black Cats at 21/10.
In terms of our boosted bets, you can get a 1-0 home win at 6/1 from 5/1 and Jesrun Rak-Sakyi is 22/1 from 16/2 to score two or more goals for the hosts.
Watford were amongst the favourites for the drop at the beginning of the season, but with over a third of the campaign gone, they sit fifth in the league. The Hornets are now just 10/1 to get promoted and are 12/5 to finish in the top six.
This weekend the Hertfordshire side take on QPR and the hosts will be fully expectant of a qin given the R’s struggles in the league this season as the Londoners lie second bottom of the league. A home win is 5/6 whilst Georgian gem Giorgi Chakvetadze has been boosted from 20/1 to 28/1to net a free kick tomorrow.
After a strong start to the season, Oxford’s recent form has been nosediving and they have now lost their last three. Admittedly, these were all against sides in the top six, but having conceded nine in their last two matches, Neil Harris’ Lions side will be licking their lips ahead of a trip to the Kassam Stadium.
Harris has his side performing above expectations once again and they have already claimed some notable scalps this season having beaten both Burnley and Leeds. An away win at Oxford would be less of a shock but equally valuable and can be backed at 21/20. In our football spread betting Total Goals market you can buy or sell at 2.25-2.45 whilst Goals Cubed can be bought or sold at 30-35.
Over 7,500 Leeds fans will traverse the Pennines tomorrow when they face Blackburn Rovers for a match moved forward by 90 minutes at the request of Lancashire Police.
The travelling Whites will be in a buoyant mood with their side chalking up three wins in a row putting them top of the league and into 1/2 in our Championship winner odds.
Their away form isn’t so great though, and our traders are happy to lay 4/5 on a win for Daniel Farke’s side tomorrow with the draw priced at 5/2 and a home win available to back at 16/5.
West Brom – with nine – are the only side in the Championship with more draws than Preston, so it may well be tempting to back another stalemate at Deepdale tomorrow.
You can get 21/10 on the points being shared in this partner club derby whilst an away win is 29/20 and a home win is 19/10. There are rarely goal-fests when Albion take to the field so we anticipate plenty of action on our Total Goal Minutes market which is available to buy or sell at 111-121.
Luton Town currently sit 22nd in the Championship away form table and with five losses on the road, including a comprehensive 3-0 defeat away at Leeds in midweek, the travelling Hatters will be far from confident ahead of the weekend.
Town meet partner club Norwich City who lie five points outside the play-off places, but the Canaries are 10/11 to get a second win in the space of a week having spanked Norwich 6-1 during the week. The draw is 5/2 for tomorrow whilst a rare Luton away win can be backed at 27/10.
Sunday’s televised match sees partner club Sheffield Wednesday travel to Pride Park with the Owls sitting two points and two places above Derby in the table.
Both teams have scored in each of Derby’s last six league games and you can back that run to continue at 5/6 this weekend whilst over 2.5 goals is 6/5. In the 1X2 market, a home win is priced up at 7/5 with both the draw and a Wednesday win available to back at 2/1.
Jerry Yates has four goals in 14 Championship appearances since joining Derby on loan from Swansea in the summer and the Doncaster-born forward is 23/10 from 19/10 to score anytime.
