Andrew made a good profit with his buy of DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER in the Yorkshire Oaks yesterday (market made up at maximum of 20) and he has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, August 25th.
This 1m4f Heritage Handicap has been dominated by four-year-olds in recent years, with eight of the last nine renewals going to this age group. We’ve had a few shocks as well, with a 33-1 winner in 2019 and a 20-1 scorer last year. The race lacks obvious pace angles and a chance is taken on the William Haggas-trained Educator in the hope that he’s given a prominent ride in first-time blinkers. He won on fast ground last September when fitted with first-time cheekpieces and can be forgiven his latest Windsor third to Youthful King as he was ridden patiently behind that all-the-way winner. The patiently-ridden fifth from that race – Andrew Balding’s City Streak who was beaten by more than 14 lengths – won at Ascot on his next start and Educator was more than six lengths ahead of that rival. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back EDUCATOR in York 1.50
KYLIAN twice impressed on stiff tracks earlier this summer, scoring by five lengths over 5f at Newcastle before a six-length Listed romp over the same distance at Sandown. He had excuses on draw grounds when third to Big Evs at Goodwood – the going was slower than ideal too – and heads the betting at around 5-2 for this 6f Al Basti Equiworld Gimcrack Stakes. However, horses stepping up from 5f to 6f have a modest recent record in this Group 2 contest, with all 18 beaten and only two placed in the past ten years. If we go back to the start of the century the score is just two from 43, with the four who started as favourite or second favourite failing to register s single win from eight runners. Sell in the Spreadedx 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might wish to side with Ralph Beckett’s KING’S GAMBLE, an impressive debut scorer over 6f at Newmarket.
Recommendation: Oppose KYLIAN in York 3.00
