Cricket and football headline the midweek action ahead of a weekend that sees the start of the Six Nations, four Grade 1 races at Leopardstown including the Irish Gold Cup and the Irish Arkle as well as all the usual drama from the world of football.

Ahead of that though, we have previewed the pick of the week’s action to whet your appetites.

The below prices are indicative and may be subject to fluctuation

CRICKET – SOUTH AFRICA v ENGLAND

The third ODI between England and South Africa gets underway tomorrow morning with the tourists looking to avoid a whitewash in Kimberley. Despite their abject form in one day cricket, England are odds-on favourites to come away with a victory on Wednesday at 8/11 with the hosts available to back at 11/10.

In the player markets, South African-born batsmen Dawid Malan and Jason Roy are 7/2 and 17/4 respectively to top score for England with Quinton de Kock 3/1 to do so for the Proteas. The spread Supremacy market – like the fixed odds market – has England slight favourites with the line priced 3-13. In this market, you get one point for every run won by and ten points for every wicket won by. A South Africa win would see the spread make up at a negative number, so if you fancy a whitewash, a sell is the way to play this spread.

Elsewhere in the world of cricket, India are 4/9 to beat New Zealand in the 3rd T20 (16-24 favourites on the Supremacy) and Sydney Sixers are 4/7 to beat Brisbane Heat and progress through to the Big Bash final when they meet on Thursday.

FOOTBALL – LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINALS

The two League Cup semi-finals take place this week and both Newcastle and Manchester United will be confident that they will be running out at Wembley for the first domestic final of the season.

With little in the way of jeopardy surrounding the match, there are some interesting angles to play in the player spreads. Calum Wilson Goal Minutes is set at 28-31, whilst Swedish sensation Alexander Isak is 25-28. One spread that also may be worth a look is Total Completed Passes. The first leg saw 801 completed passes with tonight’s spread at 660-690.

In the other semi, Manchester United are all but assured of their place in the next round and they are expected to win again at Old Trafford having won the first leg 3-0. The Supremacy spread is 1.2-1.4 in the Red Devils’ favour whilst Bruno Fernandes to score at any time has been boosted from 13/10 to 31/20.

FOOTBALL – CHELSEA v FULHAM

Chelsea are midway through a run of fixtures against sides from the capital and by the time they play West Ham on February 11th, four of their last five fixtures will have been against teams from London. On Friday they line up for the third game in that run as they take on Fulham at Stamford Bridge in a West London derby.

Fulham ran out winners when they met a few weeks ago, but it is the Blues who are favourites on Friday with Chelsea 8/13 to get the win, Fulham at 5/1, and the draw available at 16/5. In the 14 meetings between these two since 2010, ten have seen two goals or fewer and the Total Goals spread is available to buy or sell at 2.6-2.8.

GOLF – AT&T PEBBLE BEACH

The PGA Tour swings to California on Thursday for the first day of the AT&T Pebble Beach event and we have plenty of spread betting and fixed odds markets for you to take advantage of. Jordan Spieth and US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick head the betting at 10/1 with the 25-year-old Norwegian Viktor Hovland a point further back at 11/1. In the each way market, we are playing six places to 1/5 odds.

The Hotshots is a good spread to play if you want an interest in a few players and the Euro group comprises Fitzpatrick, Hovland, Justin Rose and Seamus Power, with the spread set at 42-46. Here 25 points are awarded per top ten finish with a 50 bonus if one of the players wins the tournament. The US group of Spieth, Maverick McNealy, Tom Hoge, and Andrew Putnam is priced at 40-44.
